- Very strange, a 25% increase in clock speed and they only got a 20% increase
- in performance :)
-
- The comparison of Lightwave may not be a valid test, unless that is the
- software tempting you to switch platforms. The 060 gives the Amiga decent
- performance compared to Pentiums for processor-intensive tasks. It may not be
- very cost effective; they are still rather expensive, but if you are using Amiga
- software, it makes a difference.
-
- I find my 060-50 about twice as fast as an 040-40 in similar applications on
- the Amiga, image processing and rendering in Lightwave. And BTW, Lightwave
- isn't optimized for the 060; it uses 040 code :(
-
- Real-world performance may differ from benchmarks, naturally. But the 060 is
- a very efficient processor for its clock speed; I just wish it were available in
- a faster version. But it is available now, and in real world software use, it
- seems comparable to a fast Pentium, comparing the Amiga OS3.1 to Win95.
